NYC Love Handle Liposuction
Liposuction of the love handles or waist is one of the most common procedures Dr. Darren Smith performs at his NYC plastic surgery practice. Waist lipo is a straightforward procedure that can be performed under local anesthesia in under an hour. Of course, if you’d rather be asleep or treated with IV sedation that is possible as well. Body contouring with liposuction of the love handles or liposuction of the waist is an extremely powerful way to contour the body whether this procedure is performed alone or in combination with liposuction of other areas or in combination with an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck.
What Causes Love Handles?
Love handles are caused by fat deposits around the waist. Some people are more likely to store fat here than others largely due to genetics. This can also be a very stubborn area to target with diet and exercise!
How is love handle liposuction performed?
We begin by making small, well-hidden incisions below the level of the waist so that they cannot be seen beneath a bathing suit bottom or underwear. We next introduce numbing solution into the area we plan to treat. After allowing this numbing solution to act for approximately 10 minutes, we suction the excess fat from the waist with a long thin device called a cannula. Finally, the small incisions are sutured closed with a single stitch.
What is it like to recover after liposuction of the love handles?
Recovery after liposuction of the love handles is very straightforward and there is only minimal discomfort involved. Dr. Smith recommends wearing a compression garment for 48 hours after this procedure. It is reasonable to return to work within 48 hours of love handle liposuction. For example you could have liposuction of your waist on a Friday and be back at work on the following Monday. You will have some bruising and some swelling, however most of the bruising will be gone within 7 to 10 days and the most significant portion of the swelling will be gone in approximately the same amount of time. You’ll start to see some nice results after approximately 1 to 2 weeks and these results will continue to improve for 2 to 3 months after the procedure.
How much does liposuction of the love handles cost?
Pricing varies for liposuction of the love handles with patient size and other factors, however, a reasonable estimate is approximately $3500.
Who is a good candidate for liposuction of the love handles?
If you are healthy and don’t have any major medical problems and you are close to your goal weight you may be a very good candidate for liposuction of the waist or love handles. Dr. Smith is a body contouring expert and will evaluate you in his New York City plastic surgery practice to ensure that you are a good candidate for this procedure.
How long does it take to heal from love handle lipo?
Love handle liposuction can be completed in under an hour without general anesthesia. Most patients will experience only mild soreness and can get back to a desk job the next day if this is the only area they’re having treated.
