NYC Arm Liposuction

Sometimes no matter how many push-ups or arm exercises you do, the pesky fat deposits in the uppers arms won’t budge. If you’re self-conscious about your arms and find yourself veering away from wearing tank tops, sleeveless dresses, and bathing suits, arm liposuction may be the answer.

Dr. Smith is one of the leading NYC arm liposuction surgeons. When diet and exercise can’t get the results you crave, Dr. Smith can meticulously sculpt the shape of your arms to remove fat and create a firm, natural-looking result.

What You Should Know About NYC Arm Liposuction:

Usually, Dr. Smith performs arm liposuction with the tumescent technique, meaning a local anesthetic is used to numb the area, and you can remain awake during the procedure. This is a much easier option than general anesthesia with less recovery time. Dr. Smith will make several tiny incisions to your upper arms and use a long, thin instrument called a cannula to gently remove your unwanted fat. When necessary, this procedure can be combined with other technologies like BodyTite to simultaneously tighten your skin. The results? Less pain, bruising, and downtime while leaving you with sculpted, slim arms.

More advantages of Dr. Smith’s Arm Liposuction Technique:

  • It’s safe, and the results are long-lasting.
  • Dr. Smith usually finishes the procedure in around an hour.
  • There is minimal pain after surgery.
  • The small incisions leave minor scarring after healing.
  • With tumescent liposuction, most patients can return to work and normal activities within 24 to 48 hours.

What Can I Expect From My NYC Arm Liposuction Procedure?

Dr. Smith performs the procedure on-site in our NYC state-of-the-art clinic. Our operating room is certified by the AAAASF, and we work with a hand-picked expert staff. You can be awake and coherent during the surgery without feeling pain or discomfort, or you can choose to be completely asleep. Dr. Smith will administer a local anesthetic and make one small incision under the upper arm on each side. This is where he will insert the cannula to remove excess fat and tighten the surrounding skin when necessary. In some cases another small incision is made behind the elbow. Arm liposuction lasts around an hour. We do require patients to be picked up after the procedure by a responsible adult for safety.

Am I A Good Candidate For Arm Liposuction?

Your overall health should be good if you’re considering any elective surgical procedure. If you’re in generally good health and continuously bothered by large arms or excessive arm fat, you may be a good candidate for the procedure. Dr. Smith can remove excess fat on the back of the arms and under the armpits, leaving you with a more toned, sculpted, youthful look.

Will I Have Any Scars & Sagging Skin?

The initial results of tumescent liposuction are visible after a few weeks and leave minimal, hard-to-see scars. The incision site is so small that it won’t require more than 1 suture and it will heal within a matter of days. When necessary, the procedure can be combined with skin-tightening technologies like BodyTite to help eliminate sagging skin on the arms. This procedure promotes skin-tightening and helps restore collagen in the skin. Patients with mild to moderate skin laxity will see an improvement in skin tone and firmness with BodyTite.

What Can I Expect After The Procedure?

Once Dr. Smith finishes your liposuction surgery, we will keep you for a short time to monitor you right after the procedure. This is an out-patient, same-day procedure meaning there’s no need to stay overnight. Some patients will experience mild discomfort after the procedure. Many compare the pain to muscle pain after a strenuous workout. Over-the-counter pain medications can be used to relieve discomfort if needed. Stronger medication is available if necessary. Usually, patients can use their arms and return to their regular activities after 24-48 hours. You may experience some minor bruising, which is normal and will subside in a week or two. A compression garment must be worn for optimal results of your arm liposuction procedure. Most patients having liposuction alone must wear the compression garment for 48 hours after surgery. Those adding BodyTite will wear the compression garment for 4 weeks after surgery. Dr. Smith will go over your post-liposuction routine with you.

You will start to see results approximately 2 weeks after the procedure. Final results will usually be visible at 3-6 months. Everyone heals at different rates. You can plan to experience some swelling during the healing process. This swelling, however, should not be painful and will gradually decline as your arms continue to heal.

How long do arms stay swollen after liposuction?

You will have noticeable swelling for about a week after arm liposuction – your arms may look larger than they originally did during this time. After about one week, your arms will look like they did before your procedure. By 2 or 3 weeks, you will see a nice change in shape as the swelling further resolves.

How long do I wear a compression garment after arm lipo?

Dr. Smith recommends that his patients wear a compression garment for 48 hours after arm liposuction without added energy like VASER or BodyTite. Dr. Smith recommends that for his patients having VASER liposuction of the arms, compression is warm for 1 week straight and then 1 week at night. For those having BodyTite of the arms along with their liposuction, Dr. Smith recommends wearing compression for 1 month.

Is arm lipo painful?

Arm liposuction generally causes only minor discomfort. We have had patients get arm liposuction in the morning and return to work later the same day! We generally compare the discomfort from arm liposuction to the feeling of an intense workout.

How long do you drain after lipo?

Most of our patients drain for 1-2 days after lipo. The drainage is mostly extra tumescent (anesthesia) fluid, which is clear, and can be tinted pink by a very small amount of blood.

Why are my arms hard after liposuction?

Your arms may feel hard after liposuction due to a combination of swelling and scar formation. In our practice, this is a normal part of the healing process that resolves on its own within a few weeks.

How Much Does Arm Liposuction Cost?

Arm liposuction should cost between around $5000 and $10000 depending on a few factors. These include the experience of the surgeon, the location of the practice (big cities tend to be more expensive), the kind of procedure being performed, and the kind of anesthesia used. Arm liposuction alone without added energy devices to tighten the soft tissue are on the lower end of the pricing spectrum. Arm liposuction procedures including advanced energy technologies like VASER (ultrasound) or BodyTite (bipolar radiofrequency energy) will be more expensive. Similarly, if arm liposuction performed under local anesthesia it is going to be less expensive than if it is performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia.
