BROW LIFT

with

Some of the most noticeable wrinkles on the face are those on the forehead and between the brows. They can make you look stressed or angry when you’re not intending to make an expression at all, or make you appear tired even if you are feeling just fine. A brow lift can reduce these wrinkles. It can also lift the brows to provide a more youthful and energetic appearance.

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift can also be referred to as a forehead lift or forehead rejuvenation procedure. It is a cosmetic surgical procedure that raises the skin of the forehead and brows and rebalances the underlying musculature, restoring a more youthful facial appearance.

Why should I have a brow lift?

As we age, skin loses its elasticity and endures many environmental factors and years of emotional expression that lead to saggy, tired-looking skin. You may have long, deep wrinkles across the forehead and between your brows, causing you to look angry or serious all the time. Or perhaps your eyebrows have started to sag towards your eyes, creating a fatigued look. These are issues that can be improved through a brow lift.

What are the benefits of a brow lift?

A brow lift is a great way to make your facial appearance more vibrant overall.

A brow lift can result in younger looking skin, and improve your overall facial contour andexpression, greatly enhancing your appearance.

The main benefits of a brow lift include:

  • Reducing horizontal wrinkle lines across the forehead and on the bridge of the nose
  • Reducing vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows
  • Raising saggy brows that hood the upper eyelids
  • Restoring the brow to a more youthful, energetic position

How do I prepare for brow lift surgery?

Initially, you will meet with Dr. Smith to comprehensively discuss your medical history, the
procedure,
and your desired results. You will be asked to:

  • Get lab testing or a medical evaluation
  • Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
  • Stop smoking
  • Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other supplements, as they can increasebleeding and bruising
  • You should also arrange for post-surgery care, including a ride home after the procedure.

What are the steps of brow lift surgery?

First, you receive intravenous sedation or general anesthesia so that you are comfortable during this custom surgery. Then, Dr. Smith performs one of three types of incisions. The choice of brow lift technique is based on the individual patient’s goals and anatomy. The options include:

Open ("Coronal") brow lift

In this procedure, an incision is made in the scalp and hidden by the overlying hair. This access is used to lift the extra brow skin up and back, eliminating the skin excess hanging over the upper eyelid. At the same time, the muscles in the forehead are treated to reduce brow wrinkles caused by excessive motion of these muscles.

Endoscopic brow lift

Several very small incisions are made in the scalp (again hidden by the overlying hair). A tiny camera and special instruments are used to lift the brow, address excess skin overhanging the upper eyelids, and treat the muscles causing wrinkling of the brows.

Lateral temporal lift

Medium-length incisions are made on the right and left side of the forehead at the hairline (where the scalp ends, and the regular skin of the forehead begins). These incisions are used to directly lift the skin hanging over the upper eyelids.

How long does recovery take?

You will be up walking around immediately after your procedure. Your swelling and bruising will be resolved to the point that you can return to an office job in 7-10 days. You should plan on participating only in light physical activity for the first 1-2 weeks. You can in general resume light workouts 2 weeks after surgery and return to full activity 4 weeks after surgery.
