A background in scientific research and discovery

Over the course of his training before returning home to practice, Dr. Smith had the opportunity to dedicate three years to basic science research in plastic surgery realizing advances in such fields as 3D bioprinting, virtual reality surgical planning, and adult stem-cell based therapies. This work resulted in hundreds of publications, book chapters, and presentations as well as the issuance of a US patent.

Awards and Honors

Dr. Smith has also been the recipient of multiple awards and honors. He has served as the principal investigator for numerous grants funded by the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation, the Cleft Palate Foundation, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, and other organizations.

After graduating from Rutgers University with a degree in Biological Sciences, Fotini knew her compassion and skills would flourish in a healthcare setting. Her journey began in ophthalmology but has been focused on plastic surgery for the last seven years. Fotini’s mantra is that your career should be where your purpose meets your passion. When she’s not at work, she enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with her dog, Chandler Bing.
