Arm lift after GLP-1 weight loss
This patient came to the Manhattan practice of Darren M. Smith, MD, FACS, in her 40s after significant weight loss on a GLP-1 medication. Although her size had changed, loose skin remained along her upper arms. She wanted to address the hanging skin and achieve a more defined arm contour.
Why a full brachioplasty?
Her skin laxity extended from the elbow toward the armpit. A full-length brachioplasty was chosen to address that extent of loose skin rather than a limited, or mini, arm lift.
Dr. Smith removed the excess skin along the inner arm and recontoured the remaining tissue. The full-length approach leaves a scar along the inner arm; in this case, it allowed the loose skin to be addressed across the upper arm.
The arm result
The before and after photographs show the change in her upper-arm silhouette following skin removal and recontouring. Individual results may vary.

Her treatment also included an inverted-T breast reduction and lift with auto-augmentation, as well as a skin-only tummy tuck. Her overall breast volume decreased while the nipple and areola moved higher. Auto-augmentation used her remaining breast tissue to add fullness specifically to the upper pole, without implants.
