The liposuction procedure

On the day of your liposuction surgery, the incisions are small and are placed low, below the waistline, where they are easily concealed by clothing.

Next, we introduce a numbing solution to the area we plan to treat. After allowing this numbing solution to act for approximately 10 minutes, Dr. Smith applies VASER ultrasound energy to break up the fibrous tissue of the flank and free the fat, then suctions the fat from the waist with a long, thin device called a cannula.

Finally, the small incisions are closed with a single stitch. The scars are small and placed below the waistline, and they fade over time, but they do not disappear.

After liposuction of the love handles, expect soreness, bruising and swelling that settle gradually. Wear the compression garment continuously for the first 48 hours, then as much as possible for one month.
