Her goals for her breasts and abdomen
This 80-year-old patient wanted to move toward the appearance she remembered before pregnancy. Excess, sagging abdominal skin and a slight bulge remained after pregnancy and prior abdominal surgeries. She also wanted to correct breast drooping and achieve a lifted, balanced contour without implants.
Full tummy tuck, muscle repair and contouring liposuction
Dr. Darren Smith performed a full abdominoplasty with rectus muscle plication to repair the diastasis and restore a flatter, firmer abdominal contour. Contouring liposuction further refined the abdomen and waistline.
Her prior low transverse scar was incorporated into the abdominoplasty incision. The incision was placed low and designed to remain concealed beneath the underwear line. The umbilical incision was similarly positioned within the natural contours of the belly button.
Breast lift with a slight reduction, without implants
Her breast procedure was an inverted-T mastopexy, or breast lift. Dr. Smith removed excess skin and reshaped and elevated her breast tissue to create a more balanced, proportionate appearance. The plan preserved her natural fullness while lifting the contour and slightly reducing overall breast size.
Her lift included auto-augmentation: rearranging her own existing breast tissue to redistribute fullness as part of the reshaping. No breast implants were used. Auto-augmentation is distinct from transferring fat into the breasts.
One combined breast and abdominal result
The before-and-after photographs were taken three months apart and show her breast and abdominal contours following the combined procedures. This patient appears as Breast Reduction Case 4, Tummy Tuck Case 8 and Mommy Makeover Case 9.
Her age is part of her individual story; surgical planning depends on an assessment of health, anatomy, goals and the proposed procedures.
