This young woman had a double chin that was treated with liposuction for fat removal and FaceTite
Individual results may vary.
This woman wanted to improve the appearance of her double chin and improve the contour of her jawline. She is shown before and after liposuction and skin tightening with FaceTite. This procedure can be performed in under an hour with local anesthesia. Recovery is comfortable and a return to work in 48 hours is a reasonable expectation.
Individual results may vary.
This is a woman in her fifties that wanted to improve the appearance of her neck and jawline. She has significant skin laxity but did not want to undergo an invasive procedure like a facelift or neck lift. Instead, we performed chin and jawline lipo along with ultrasound energy (VASER) and bipolar radiofrequency energy (FaceTite) to achieve as much skin tightening as possible with minimal incisions and minimal downtime. She had 3 incisions, each the size of a pen cap: one in the crease behind her chin and one behind each earlobe.
Individual results may vary.
This is a young woman who wanted to improve the contour of her chin and neck. She was treated with liposuction to address her excess submental fat. She had moderate skin laxity, so we used FaceTite bipolar radiofrequency energy and VASER ultrasound energy to achieve maximal skin and soft tissue contraction without open surgery. The procedure was completed in under an hour while the patient was awake and comfortable.
Individual results may vary.
If you're unhappy with your profile or face shape because of your chin, liposuction can help sculpt and shape the lower part of your face to create a slimmer, more contoured look. Dr. Smith performs chin liposuction as an outpatient procedure in our NYC office. During a chin lipo consultation, patients often ask questions like, what can I expect one week after chin liposuction?
Chin liposuction is a relatively easy, quick procedure that permanently removes fatty tissue and improves the contour of the chin and the upper neck. Here's what you can expect after your chin liposuction procedure.
1. You'll be mostly recovered from chin liposuction one-week post-op. At this point, any bruising should be gone, swelling will be hard to see, and Dr. Smith will have removed your stitches.
2. As the swelling continues to go down, you'll see a more defined jawline, a sleeker neck, and a smaller chin. The lower face will be more proportionate and slender, but at this point, the final results are still not noticeable.
Tip: Stay as hydrated as possible during your first week of recovery. Adequate hydration helps the body heal faster!
Should I See Results 1 week After Chin Lipo?
You may see a very subtle improvement after 1 week, however, you should not expect any real improvement at this point. This is because a significant volume of numbing solution is added at the time of your procedure, and between this and swelling, your results will really be hard to see for a few weeks.
Things should be back to normal at this point in your recovery. Most patients will have returned to everyday activities without restrictions by now. However, if you plan to resume strenuous exercise after surgery, please wait until you get the "green light" from Dr. Smith. You'll also start to see a nice change in your appearance by this point. A good deal of the swelling should go down by week three, and you shouldn't see any real bruising by this time.
This is a young woman in her late twenties that wanted to improve the contour of her chin and neck, and achieve a sharper jawline. She is shown about 3 months after chin lipo. Her procedure was performed under local anesthesia in under an hour with no discomfort. Her cervicomental angle has improved, and her jawline is now well-defined.
Individual results may vary.
This is a young woman in her forties that wanted to improve her jawline contour. We performed chin and jawline lipo with FaceTite bipolar radiofrequency skin tightening to achieve the result shown. Photos were taken before and about 6 months after her procedure.
Individual results may vary.
You will most likely feel up to working the day after your procedure. However, due to swelling and your compression garment, you may not want to go out and about until about 48 hours after your chin liposuction. Almost all chin lipo patients are back to normal activity and light exercise within a week. Keep in mind that you will most likely have to wear a chin compression band for 48 hours, so take that into consideration when taking time off.
If you're itching to get back to the gym, please remember that you should avoid heavy exercise for around two weeks after chin lipo.
Most patients see an improvement in their appearance once the swelling starts to subside, which is usually around two to three weeks post-op. However, the final results can take several months to see. Everyone heals differently, and Dr. Smith will guide you through the process.
Staying patient after chin liposuction is important. Always remember your body is unique, and everyone heals and recovers differently.
While everyone’s recovery journey is unique, there are certain things you can do that will help speed up the process. Here are some things you should and shouldn’t do in the days following chin liposuction.
DO - Drink a lot of clear fluid and get plenty of rest.
DON’T - Bend over or lift anything heavy for the first few days.
DO - Monitor your health for any changes.
DON’T - Take medicine that can cause bruising. These medications can include blood thinners, some pain relievers, and over-the-counter vitamins and supplements.
DO - Ice your chin after liposuction. You can use a baggy with ice or a bag of frozen veggies covered in a soft cloth. Don’t apply ice directly to your skin. Keep the ice on for 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.
DON’T - Wait to give us a call if you have any questions or concerns about your recovery.
