Non-Surgical Procedure

MORPHEUS8 IN NYC

FURTHER TREATMENT INFORMATION

NYC Morpheus8

Over time, your skin loses its fresh, firm quality, develops areas of hyperpigmentation, and begins to form wrinkles and creases. Morpheus8 (by aesthetic technology leader InMode) is a groundbreaking radiofrequency microneedling treatment system for skin resurfacing and tightening. Acclaimed plastic surgeon Dr. Darren Smith has adopted the technology of Morpheus8 for full-body rejuvenation.

Skin resurfacing treatments in NYC

Not all resurfacing treatments are equal in the results that can be achieved. Dr. Darren Smith has dedicated his professional career to staying abreast with the latest developments in aesthetics and offers advanced skin resurfacing treatments with the Morpheus8 system. This system achieves results with radiofrequency (RF) energy technology combined with microneedling, which heats the deep layers of the skin to stimulate natural regeneration and rejuvenation. Many of the changes associated with aging skin like laxity and a drooping appearance are caused by a loss of skin elasticity. Dr. Smith uses Morpheus8 to directly combat these changes by actually generating increased collagen formation (“collagen induction therapy”).

What can skin tightening and resurfacing treatments do for me?

If you are dismayed to see your skin losing its youthful, firm quality, with lines, creases, and wrinkles forming, and discolorations such as age spots or sun spots marring your look, these treatments can restore your skin. It is appropriate for various areas of the face, including:

  • Forehead
  • Cheeks
  • Smile lines
  • Frown lines
  • Creases between brows
  • Mouth
  • Neck

Dr. Smith also uses Morpheus8 skin resurfacing to treat fine lines and wrinkles of the entire body. Especially popular areas include:

  • Décolletage (chest)
  • Elbows
  • Knees
  • Abdomen near the belly button

Non-invasive, non-surgical facial rejuvenation: The benefits of Morpheus8

As skin rejuvenation with the Morpheus8 system is non-surgical and non-invasive, you can enhance your look without worries about incisions, scars, anesthesia, or a long recovery time. You can address a range of skin problems in one treatment, with many benefits:

  • Smooths deep wrinkles and lines
  • Smooths acne scars
  • Helps avoid breakouts of cystic acne
  • Safe for all skin tones
  • Restores skin quality by triggering natural collagen production
  • Evens skin tone

How Long is the Recovery Time?

The recovery time for awake liposuction is relatively quick. Most patients can go home within 1-2 hours and return to normal activities in just a few days. The fast recovery is possible thanks to the less invasive techniques we utilize for fat removal and skin tightening. Awake lipo doesn’t require general anesthesia or large incisions. It’s best to get ample rest and avoid strenuous activity for 3-5 days post-procedure. Pain, bruising, and swelling should be very minimal.

Who is the best candidate for NYC Morpheus8?

If you have any of the following skin problems, you are likely a candidate for this non-surgical treatment:

  • Mild sagging on face and neck, jowls
  • Acne scars
  • Fatty deposits on face and neck
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Active acne
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Uneven skin texture

What is the treatment like to experience?

Most people who undergo this revolutionary skin rejuvenation treatment find it easy to experience. Prior to your treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to your skin, so you are comfortable. You will feel a mild warming from the RF energy, and only a mild sensation from the microneedling. Dr. Smith recommends a series of three treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, to see maximal results.

What is the recovery time?

You may experience reddened skin that typically is hard to notice by one day after treatment your Morpheus8 skin resurfacing. Pinpoint bleeding immediately treatment is normal and rapidly resolves. Plan on approximately one day before it is nearly impossible to tell you have had anything done.

What’s the best way to tighten skin using Morpheus8?

We’ve had great success with radiofrequency devices, especially those from Inmode, in achieving skin tightening and skin resurfacing. These devices really come in two flavors. The first is incision-free, and the second is minimally invasive (a series of 3mm or less entry ports). These devices work by creating a controlled injury that will evoke a tightening and shrinking response in the skin, which in turn leads to a more youthful, pleasing appearance.

Morpheus8 fits into the category of incision-free skin tightening treatments. Morpheus8 is fairly unique in that it uses radio frequency microneedling to create two different kinds of controlled injury. Specifically, the Morpheus8 device deploys a series of extremely small needles to a depth ranging from two to four millimeters in the skin, and these are creating a controlled physical injury in the form of microscopic holes. At the same time, the device is emitting radio frequency energy, which amps up the healing process. Together, these holes and the controlled thermal injury from the radio frequency energy triggers a robust healing response that over time results in skin shrinking and tightening.

For more aggressive skin tightening, we can go to a minimally invasive device using bipolar radiofrequency energy. Again, our favorites in this category are from InMode. The most widely used device in this category is called BodyTite, and this is a bipolar radio frequency device. These devices feature two “poles” or sites from which radio frequency is emitted. There is one pole that goes underneath the skin and one pole that stays on top of the skin, and radio frequency energy is essentially fired between the two poles to heat the skin. There is a heat sensing device both on the internal pole and on the external pole. The temperature is therefore very precisely regulated within a safe range, but we generate enough heat to reach the temperatures at which we know that skin contraction will be induced. Of the two probes used by BodyTite, one is internal and one is external. The internal probe is inserted through a port as small as 2mm in diameter. That internal probe is passed under the skin while the external probe follows on top of the skin.

We have also had a great deal of success in combining Morpheus8 external radio frequency energy with this BodyTite form of radio frequency energy to achieve a full, three dimensional treatment of both the skin and underlying tissues. This approach offers a cumulative synergistic effect to achieve very powerful skin tightening.

Bipolar radio frequency devices also take the form of FaceTite and AccuTite. These devices are essentially just smaller sizes of the original BodyTite handpiece. The FaceTite device is the intermediate member of the family, and it works well for the lower third of the face and the neck. The AccuTite handpiece is the smallest device in the lineup. We use AccuTite for areas as delicate and small as the upper and lower eyelids, the nasal labial folds, and the jowls. There is therefore a great deal of flexibility with these devices that allows us to achieve some really stunning results.

With Morpheus8 as well as the bipolar radiofrequency devices, it does take time to see the final results. This is due to the fact that we are relying on the healing of a controlled injury to produce skin tightening, and this is not an instant process. While you can see a small improvement fairly quickly, it really does take several months to see the final result from these procedures. The other nice thing about these procedures is that they can be performed on an outpatient basis, and they generally don’t take more than an hour.

For context, while Morpheus8 is great for enhancing skin tone and addressing lighter laxity, and BodyTite, FaceTite and AccuTite are good options for moderate skin laxity, severe skin laxity is only effectively addressed with surgical skin removal. For the face or neck, the facelift and the neck lift serve this purpose. For the arms, an arm lift or brachioplasty is the way to go. For the thighs, a thigh lift is the procedure of choice for extreme skin laxity. Finally, the abdomen with severe skin laxity is best treated with an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

These invasive procedures serve as a benchmark for the efficacy of minimally invasive skin tightening procedures. While the results with minimally invasive skin tightening procedures are variable, we find that these procedures can achieve approximately 30-40% of the results that can be realized with excisional skin surgery. So, for someone who wants to avoid traditional invasive surgery, either from a medical perspective, a downtime perspective, or a cost perspective, these minimally and noninvasive options can be a great fit.

FAQ

What skin problems can Morpheus8 treat?

Morpheus8 treatment produces a remarkable improvement in wrinkles, crepey skin, lax skin, acne scars, stretch marks, cellulite, and other skin flaws.

What is the benefit of a fractionated treatment such as Morpheus8?

With the Morpheus8 system, fractionated radiofrequency (RF) energy is delivered through a matrix of tiny pins. As the controlled micro-injuries are surrounded by untreated skin, the healing process is very rapid, with almost no downtime, with results you can see and feel.

What are the benefits of RF energy?

RF energy is a controlled heat, delivered through the micro-pins in the Morpheus8 system, stimulating the natural regeneration of collagen. The treatment performs what is termed “tissue remodeling,” by tightening the existing collagen fibers.

What areas can be treated?

Any area of your face or body that has lax, aging skin can be renewed with the Morpheus8 system. Areas commonly treated include the lower facial area, neck, and décolletage, or areas of the face that show signs of aging skin, hyperpigmentation, or acne scars.

How quickly will I see the results?

The results of treatment begin to show within a few days, with significant improvements at the three-week mark. As the collagen renews in your skin, it continues to improve for up to three months.

Can anyone use Morpheus8?

One of the greatest benefits of Morpheus8 is that the treatments are appropriate for all skin types.

How many treatments will I need?

Every patient is unique. Typically, between one to three treatment sessions are needed for facial rejuvenation.

Can Morpheus8 be used in combination with other treatments?

For comprehensive anti-aging, a combination of a Morpheus8 and other treatments can be performed in the same session, or a few days later.

When can I put on makeup after my treatment?

You should avoid makeup for a day or two after your treatment. The treated area is typically slightly reddened and swollen, depending upon your individual reaction to treatment. Within two to three days, makeup can be applied, and you should feel comfortable in social interactions.

What kind of post-procedure care is required?

Aftercare is extremely simple. Avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight for about four weeks, and ensure you use sunscreen when venturing out.

What will a Morpheus8 treatment do for my skin?

Morpheus8 is a significant advance in anti-aging technology. The regeneration of natural collagen deep within the skin layers procedures a firming, smoothing, and skin reviving effect that leaves you looking noticeably younger.
